Introduction
The purpose of this website is to inform others of theories and concepts developed within the field of social psychology that can be used to predict, explain, and influence the behavior of individuals in organizational settings. Relative to other sub-fields in psychology, the bridge between social psychology and industrial/organizational psychology is very strong. Over the years, social psychology and industrial/organizational psychology have systematically examined similar ideas in different contexts. In doing so, the sub-fields have advanced knowledge by showing that conclusions from within both sub-fields have external validity (Seijts & Latham, 2003). Four social psychological theories and their application to industrial/organizational psychology are discussed on this site. They are causal attribution, impression management, moral development, and the group-serving bias.
